1. Who We Are

Job Tracer ("Job Tracer," "we," "us," or "our") is a job search tracking platform available at jobtracer.app. Job Tracer is operated by Archer Labs. For all inquiries, contact us at arj325@gmail.com.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Service").

By using Job Tracer, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

Information Collected Automatically

3. How We Collect It

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not use your data to train AI models without your explicit consent. We do not use your data for advertising targeting. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers

We work with third-party vendors who help us operate the Service. These providers are contractually required to use your data only to provide services to us:

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Job Tracer, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers

If Job Tracer is acquired, merged, or its assets are sold, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our site before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

With Your Consent

We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

6. AI Features and Third-Party Processing

Job Tracer's AI companion, Archer, is powered by Claude — a large language model developed by Anthropic, PBC. When you interact with Archer or run the Aim Assessment, the content of your messages and relevant context from your job search profile is transmitted to Anthropic's API to generate a response.

By using Archer, you acknowledge and agree that:

We take reasonable steps to minimize the personal data sent to third-party AI providers and do not transmit your password, payment information, or full contact details as part of AI requests.

7. Data Storage and Security

Current Storage (Local)

At present, all job application data, contacts, and document content you enter in Job Tracer is stored locally in your browser's localStorage. This means your data lives on your own device and is not transmitted to our servers. The limitation is that your data is tied to the browser and device you use — clearing browser data or switching devices will result in data loss.

Planned Cloud Migration

We plan to migrate data storage to a secure cloud database (Supabase) in the future. When this migration occurs, this policy will be updated, and you will be notified before your data is stored server-side. You will have the option to export or delete your data before the transition.

Account Credentials

Your password is never stored in plain text. It is hashed using SHA-256 with your email as a salt and stored only in your browser's local storage. We cannot retrieve, read, or transmit your password.

Security Measures

We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures including HTTPS encryption on all web traffic, secure credential hashing, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

Local Storage

Job Tracer uses your browser's localStorage and sessionStorage APIs to store your application data, session token, and preferences. This is not the same as cookies — the data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers with each request.

You can clear this data at any time through your browser's developer tools or settings. Doing so will log you out and erase your locally stored job search data.

Session Storage

If you sign in without checking "Remember Me," your login session is stored in sessionStorage, which is automatically cleared when you close your browser tab.

Cookies

Job Tracer may use essential cookies for session management and security. We do not currently use advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies. If we add analytics in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.

Third-Party Cookies

Google Fonts, which we use to load the Inter typeface, may set cookies in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

For All Users

California Residents (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, the right to opt out of its sale (we do not sell data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

European / UK Residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR including the right to object to processing, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our lawful basis for processing your data is the performance of a contract (providing the Service you signed up for).

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at arj325@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. Because data is currently stored locally on your device, most data control is already in your hands — you can delete your data at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or deleting your account from the Settings page.

10. Data Retention

Because data is currently stored locally in your browser, retention is controlled by you — it persists until you clear your browser data or delete your account.

When cloud storage is implemented, we will retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records, which we retain for 7 years per standard accounting requirements).

Anonymized, aggregate data (e.g., feature usage statistics with no identifying information) may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.

11. Children's Privacy

Job Tracer is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at arj325@gmail.com and we will delete that information promptly.

Users between the ages of 13 and 18 must have parental or guardian consent to use the Service.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where feasible, by sending a notification to the email address associated with your account.

Your continued use of Job Tracer after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

13. Contact Us

We aim to respond to all privacy-related inquiries within 5 business days.
